This week is a very special and important week for Jah Cure and his fans. Since many of you are wondering what he is up to and how his experiences of renewed freedom are coming along, I will be on the lookout for news to share with you. Rather than write up a whole post everytime, I’ve decided to make a list of any new articles that I find. I will post that list each day along with any new photos or videos. I’ve noticed that many reports from the same press conference include different stories with different quotes. So if you just can’t get enough of the Cure, you might want to read them all! ([More →])

Rhianna Joins Elephant Man On “Throw Your Hands Up”
July 31st, 2007
Elephant Man may be a rude bwoy and now a Bad Boy too, but he sure knows the right ladies to work with. He recently recorded the NYC-dancehall song “Whine Up” with Kat DeLuna, he recently added his remix of Rhianna’s “Umbrella” to his music$pace page, and worked with Rhianna on his own upcoming album Let’s Get Physical. The album will be released on Sean Combs’ Bad Boy Entertainment label on November 2nd but, of course, you don’t have to wait that long to listen to it. ([More →])
Biodiesel Fuels Korn Tour Buses + USO Tix
July 31st, 2007
Korn has kids. They worry about their kids’ kids. They worry that their kids’ kids will have to live underground because the surface of the planet is too hot thanks to us not being able to curb our greenhouse gases. At least, that’s what they told the press recently when they announced that all 8 of their tour buses and all 8 of their cargo trucks would be fueled with biodiesel on their Family Values tour this summer. ASCAP Needs More Money To Pay Musicians
July 31st, 2007
Musicians have it made. Once they write a song, they can just kick back and watch the money roll in forever. Between RIAA, BMI, ASCAP, CRB and all the other companies collecting so much money for performance royalties, musicians must make a fortune. So why is it that so few musicians are rich? Where does all the money go? ASSCAP thinks there isn’t enough money being paid to musicians, so they’re out to get more.
ASCAP has filed 26 lawsuits against bars in cities across the US for performing copyrighted music without permission. The jukebox/CD/DJ is in violation now. ([More →])
Who The Hell Is Tuss & What Have You Done With Aphex Twin?
July 31st, 2007
I found a remarkable story on the Village Voice today. Part mystery thriller, part treasure hunt, part news. It concerns the discovery of some “new” talent, a pair of electronic musicians who collectively go by the name of Tuss, but who individually call themselves Brian Tregaksin and Karen Tregaskin. Tuss released Confederation Trough in their early days, then the prestigious release that caused electronica enthusiasts to sit up and take notice - Rushup Edge on the elite UK publisher Chrysalis.
The article in the Village Voice mostly reviews this epic album, but seems stuck on the idea that the Truss is no rookie electronica act. The writer instead forwards the notion that has been circulating through lists and forums - that this is another eponymous work by the elusive Richard D James, a.k.a. Aphex Twin. ([More →])
Jah Cure Steps Out For The 1st Time In 8 Years
July 30th, 2007
Siccature Alcock stepped out of the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre in Kingston Jamaica and into the life he had been dreaming about while sleeping behind bars for the last 8 years. When Alcock left prison, he finally stepped into the shoes of a free Jah Cure. There was a press conference held to meet the man behind the music. When Jah Cure entered the room on the arm of his mother, he was greeted by complete silence. Silence broken only by the sound of numerous cameras being clicked, shutters opening and closing, film advancing, and more silence. Finally, the photographers were asked to step back, and Spragga Benz himself stepped forth to offer a prayer and give thanks to Jah for the man who has served his time and is ready to become a member of society again. What What? Logan Sama has been hired by Kiss FM? Ok, so I’m behind the times, but what a loss for Rinse FM listeners! Well, Rinse can’t let that stand in the way of having a great time at the Rinse 01 Record Release party. It’s set for August 17th at The End and the party is a joint collab between Rinse and FWD>> to forward the release of Geeneus’ Rinse 01 compilation. ([More →])

New Kush Tune From Mobb Deep’s Havoc
July 30th, 2007
We have a new tune from the solo-debut of Mobb Deep’s Havoc. The album is called The Kush and it will be released on August 18th. A lot of peeps are excited about this album because Havoc has been laying down killer tracks for everyone else (Nas, Eve, Foxy Brown, Lil Kim, etc.) but hasn’t had the time to produce an album all his own. Well, we finally get to see Havoc shine and do his thang. The first single off the album is “Be There” and today’s new track is “I’m The Boss.” Both tracks are excellent, you can listen to them with the (new!) HearingTest music player. The player is on your left in the sidebar, next to the ghettoblaster. ([More →])

Unrestricted Reggae - Download DRM-Free!
July 28th, 2007
Reggae Country is now on our list of DRM-free music providers! I can’t tell you how excited I am about this development. It’s not easy to find reggae and dancehall music that will play on any player, that you can burn to cd and make mixtapes with. This is going to lead to great success for Reggae Country.
