Alicia Keys stole the show at the American Music Awards on Sunday night by turning it into a dancehall party! She invited reggae legends Junior Reid, Beenie Man, Chaka Demus & Pliers on stage for a medley of BIG TUNES! Keys kicked off with her new hit, “No One,” but then switched gears into a dancehall medley with Junior Reid singing his smash hit “One Blood,” Chaka Demus and Pliers adding their biggest number, “Murder She Wrote” and Beenie Man came out with his “Who Am I?” Most viewers probably had no idea what hit them (but enuff in the live audience did - the crowd roared when airhorns introduced Junior Reid to the stage), but this 5 minute performance shows a deep love and respect for Jamaican music and a few of its biggest players!

YouTube has removed all the videos, so let’s hope dm is cooler than dat:
This is totally incredible! Jamaican music has never been so well represented at the AMA. BIG UPS to the lovely Alicia Keys for sharing her slot and creating such a hot performance. Barbadian singer Rihanna and Jamaican singer Sean Kingston (who does not sing reggae, but is nonetheless from the island) both mentioned that they loved the performance during their speeches and were seen dancing in their seats as it went down.
The Original Tunes By Junior Reid, Beenie Man, Chaka Demus & Pliers
To keep the FIYAH burning, here are the three songs that were added to Keys’ “No One” by Junior Reid, Chaka Demus & Pliers, and Beenie Man:

Chaka Demus & Pliers - First Ever US Tour!
Chaka Demus and Pliers are one of the most successful Jamaican acts the world over, with albums that have gone Gold, Platinum, and Triple Platinum. There smash hit “Murder She Wrote” made them a household name in reggae and dancehall music while jungle remixes of it and “Gal Wine” continue to bump their popularity. Their new album Back Off The Wall features the single “Need Your Loving” which, once again, landed them at the top of the charts from NYC to Miami and Jamaica to Japan. During the dancehall duo’s 20+ year musical career, they never toured the United States. It’s been an obvious omission for years.
The wait is over! For the first time ever, Chaka Demus and Pliers are on their way to america for a cross-country tour in support of Back Off The Wall!
