Beastie Boys Keep The Live Earth Alive On Tour

July 19th, 2007

Hahaha, it’s getting too easy to report band’s good deeds these days. Do-gooding is spreading like wildfire since the concept of Live Earth first started to buzz. I do my best to weed out the deeds that are done merely for publicity and hype, so the ones I report I feel are the genuine article. Today’s featured Band-With-A-Social-Conscious is one of our all-time favorite bands - one that can do no wrong in our book! It’s The Beastie Boys!

The Beastie Boys have announced on their website that they have begun a recycling program at shows for cellies and pda’s! How cool! Now you can recycle that cellphone that you’ve been using as an alarm clock since you upgraded to the iphone! You just have to go to a BBoys show. No not really, but if you’ll be there anyway, it’s a good place to unload your tech recycling. From the BBoys news page:

See A Show…Save The World
Ok…not really, BUT every little bit helps. Beastie Boys are doing a cellphone/pda recycling program on all of the dates. Do your part in saving the ground water, reducing strip mining AND reduce adding to landfills by turning in your old device. We will take anything – old, new, broken, even that charger that has lost its mate.

ALSO, find out what else you can do to save the world. At each show there will be information tables set up by various organizations to help educate us on what we need to do to start a massive change. If we all do a little – it will go a long way.
