Usher + Ludacris Get Dat Girl Right There [Audio]

February 6th, 2008

I am not a big Usher fan, but the first single off his new album “Dat Girl Right There” has me very intrigued. First of all, it features Ludacris who I AM a fan of and the music is downright different for a hiphop/RnB tune. It’s funky electronica, with thick bass, but minimal beats. Luda even raps over a section with no beats at all… Check out the audio from this youTube thang:

Blaqstarr And Rye Rye Shake It To The Ground [Video]

February 6th, 2008

With all the technical difficulties lately, I’ve fallen far behind with a lot of things I wanted to post here. So, I’m going to do my best to catch up, which will involve posting a lot of videos that came out in the last month or so. This is one of them: the video from B-more legend DJ Blaqstarr for “Shake It To The Ground/Crazy Leg Edit” featuring Rye Rye.

This Dread Meets Punk Rockers Uptown

February 6th, 2008

DJ Don Letts compiled a wicked collection of tunes for Dread Meets Punk Rockers Uptown from his vast collection of reggae and dub 7-inches. The album is a veritable soundtrack to London’s legendary Roxy Club circa December ‘76 - April ‘77, where the Pistols, Clash and Banshees were known to kick it while Letts spun irie tunes. Dread Meets Punk Rockers Uptown features 16 tracks by King Tubby, Culture, Jah Stitch, Horace Andy, Lee “Scratch” Perry, U-Roy, Junior Murvin and many more.

Hyperbass Remix Of “Night” By L-Vis 1990?

February 6th, 2008

I now have more remixes for Benga & Coki’s “Night” than any other tune in the past year. M.I.A.’s tune “Paper Planes” was the most remixed tune on HearingTest for a while there, but now “Night” remixes have far outnumbered “Paper Planes” remixes. This latest one isn’t clearly credited, but the gory hyperbass lettering reeks of L-Vis 1990 and the user who uploaded it has almost the same name: sivl09.

Benga & Coki - ‘Night’ - SQUID ANIMATION Remix from L-Vis 1990

L-Vis 1990 music $pace

Benga & Coki’s original squid animation for “Night” debuted last week and I still get warm and fuzzy inside watching it. If you get tired of listening to “Night” try watching it with other spaced out electronica too. I recommend anything by Scuba or Nommo Ogo
