MINISTRY’S THE LAST DUBBER AVAILABLE SEPT. 15

Remix album of final Ministry release (The Last Sucker) coming

from Al Jourgensen’s 13th Planet Records

Aug. 4, 2009 (El Paso, Texas) – Ministry, arguably the most influential industrial band to date, punctuated the close of their 30 year recording career with 2007’s The Last Sucker. Now comes the remix album, The Last Dubber, an appropriately beguiling album that dabbles in both trance and metal.

The Last Sucker was greeted with a chorus of glowing reviews including Pitchfork proclaiming it “Ministry’s most exciting record since Psalm 69,” and Spin said Jourgensen “can still pile on the jackhammer beats and clever samples.” Following the album’s release Jourgensen and company embarked on the C U LaTour, which wrapped around the globe with sold out shows at each stop and is documented in the recently released Adios… Puta Madres DVD/CD.

The Last Dubber track listing is:

1. Let’s Go (La Fin Du Monde Mix)

2. Watch Yourself (The Clocks Strike Thirteen Mix)

3. Life is Good (Neuroplasticity Mix)

4. The Dick Song (Straight Outta Lincoln Mix)

5. The Last Sucker (Icke Mix)

6. No Glory (Sandpaper Condom Mix)

7. Death & Destruction (A Vote of Non-Confidence Mix)

8. Die In A Crash (Point of Impact Mix)

9. End Of Days Part 1 (One Less Sparrow Mix)

10. End Of Days Part 2 (Extreme Mayan Makeover Mix)

11. Let’s Go (Dawn of Oblivion Mix)

12. The Last Sucker (Hardware Revamp Mix)

All tracks remixed by Clayton Workbeck of RevCo with the exception of “Let’s Go (Dawn of Oblivion Mix)” by John Bechdel (Killing Joke, Ministry, False Icons) and “The Last Sucker (Hardware Revamp Mix)” by DJ Hardware….

The Last Dubber is the fourth in a series of remix records from Jourgensen’s 13th Planet Records. The previous albums being: Prong’s Power of Damn MiXXXer, RevCo’s Cocktail MiXXX, Ministry’s Rio Grande Dubya and RevCo’s Sex-O MiXXX-O (which is set for a Sept. 29 release).

OM And Boris Play Free Live Show In SF This Sunday

October 12th, 2007

Residents and visitors of the Haight/Golden Gate Park area of SF should make some effort to secure fragile objects and batten down what needs secured this Sunday, October 14th. I don’t anticipate an earthquake, although that is always a possibility, but I do anticipate some serious seismic activity in that neighborhood on that day. See, I just got word that OM and Boris will both be performing live, for FREE, at the Amoeba Records at the tip of upper Haight Street. This is a monumental event, even by Amoeba’s free shows standards. Never before have 2 bands of such heavy sonic history played in-store on the very same day. I can’t wait! Finally a great reason to be in SF instead of London or NYC… ([More →])

ISIS – Slaying Ears For 10 Years, Holy Tears

September 25th, 2007

Today’s theme is tenner anniversaries. Next up is veteran sludge-metal band, ISIS. They’re celebrating their 10th anniversary of creating heavy music together and preparing for a few live shows in the US and one in BC this November. 27, longtime collaborators with ISIS, will open the shows. ISIS and 27 will be joined at different shows by different bands, including Oxbow, Big Business, and These Arms Are Snakes. In addition to the handful of live shows, ISIS will be widely releasing a few singles from their 2006 album, In The Absence of Truth. ([More →])

Save The Manium For All Ages In Olympia

September 18th, 2007

So many bands and music fans are concerned about the future of the Manium – an all ages venue in downtown Olympia that the city is trying to shut down. If you have ever been involved with an all-ages venue in any city in the US, you know the kind of problems they face. Instead of being appreciated for getting kids off the streets and away from the television, they are viewed as sources of illegal activities and the corruption of society. Maybe there are a few rare cases where this happens, but usually the venue is a boon to society, especially a culture that neglects its youth more and more and fails to provide healthy gathering spaces. Wolf Eyes Add New Music, New Europe Dates

September 17th, 2007

Experimental electronic noise scientists – Nate Young, John Olson and Mike Connelly, aka Wolf Eyes – added new tunes to their music $pace page plus new tour dates through Europe. Before they leave the US though, they will play four shows in northeast US: Buffalo, Brooklyn, New Haven and Cleveland. So, check out the new music, and look out for your chance to catch them live. Wolf Eyes’ live shows are fascinating crosses between metal, punk, noise, and guitar destruction. They have so much fun on freaking out on stage and they are so much fun to rock out to.

Yakuza Transmutes Metal Into Jazz + Samsara

September 13th, 2007

Jesu has added experimental metal band Yakuza to a few of their US shows in support of the new Yakuza album, Transmutations. Yakuza’s music is described as “a metal base with progressive flair, while somehow also incorporating elements of jazz, world beat, and post-rock ambience” and “psychedelic elements alongside stretching, doomy movements and the band’s trademark jazz-influences, while also incorporating breakneck grind riffs and grooves at the same time.” With that many different elements coming together in such a fluid and evolving sound, you can see why I would refrain from trying to describe them in my own words! This one place where I will let the PR people figure it out… I really like their music though. It’s extreme to say the least, but with very classical elements. Almost like post-rock band Do Make Say Think if you played their music at 78 rpm… ([More →])

Finnish Circle Tours US W/ Oneida, OM + More

September 12th, 2007

Finnish Krautrockers, Circle, began their US tour with a FREE performance at Other Music in NYC on Tuesday night and will soon be heading west. Circle will play with a few different bands along the way, including Endless Boogie, Grails, Assemblehead in Sunburst Sound, OM and Oneida. Should be a fantastic tour. I saw them at the Great American Music Hall about 3 years ago and it was such an experience… Growing and Earth opened the show with incredible sets of experimental metal and then Circle took the audience to another dimension! The music was psychedelic and totally trance-inducing. For some reason they remind of Les Savy Fav, but with really long, drawn out jams that take you deeper and deeper into the music. They also put so much energy into the performance, much like LSF do. If you are near one of their shows, I highly recommend checking them out. The recorded versions do not come close to describing the sounds and experience of their live performance. ([More →])

From Burning Witch To Sunn O – Crippled Lucifer Returns

September 12th, 2007

Stephen O’Malley is oft recognized as a pioneer of doom and drone metal from his participation in Khanate and Sunn O))). But before either of these incarnations, O’Malley and Greg Anderson (also of Sunn O) were creating blackest doom metal in Burning Witch and Thorr’s Hammer. Thorr’s Hammer was an incredible band with a charming female who sang in Norwegian (Runhild Gammelsæter aka Ozma, who was a 17 year old exchange student from Norway at the time). My favorite song by them is “Norge” which starts out softly, Ozma’s voice fades in, chanting in Norwegian. Then, that same female voice dives deeply into gravelly death metal vocalizations. It’s hard to believe that it’s a female singing still, she is so convincing with her delivery! ([More →])
