Why Is Dizzee Rascal Touring UK With Babyshambles?
August 7th, 2007
Dizzee Rascal’s future is now unavoidably interlinked with Pete Doherty’s. What was Dizzee thinking? Well, I guess rascals don’t get much say in who they tour with. Now it all rides on whether Doherty can stay out of jail and off drugs long enough to complete a Baby Shambles tour. ([More →])
M.I.A. Is Gorgeous In Jimmy Video
August 7th, 2007
M.I.A.’s new video for “Jimmy” is gorgeous! Very Bollywood, very trance-y. You may have read this already, but Jimmy is a cover tune of a song that Maya would sing when she was a child. She would play guitar and sing this song for a handful of cash at a local eatery in her hometown. She brings her music career full circle by covering this song again, and including it on her upcoming Kala album. ([More →])
Jah Cure Sings “My Life” Accapella On Video
August 7th, 2007
Here its is - the daily roundup of all things Cured! I imagine that Jah Cure is probably spending quality time with family and friends, rather than making public appearances. But that won’t stop people from talking about him, or stopping him in the street to video tape him singing an accapella of his newest song. We only have a few links today, and probably won’t have many more to round up until he starts doing some publicity. But for today, you can feast your eyes on this pic and feast your ears on this accapella! ([More →])
Sean Paul Shows In WA, NV, BC, Toronto
August 7th, 2007
Sean Paul has a couple of shows scheduled in the US and Canada this summer. Yes, I did denounce Sean Paul as Reggae Artist of the Year, but the rhythms that he raps over are pure FIRE! I bet he puts on a great live show. Just don’t show up expecting reggae and everything will be kosher… ([More →])

M.I.A. Gets The Hook Up From Jack White
August 4th, 2007
M.I.A. was in high spirits on Lollapalooza’s Bud Light stage today, thanks in part to a special package she received from Jack White! Spinner reports that the gentleman of The White Stripes Fed-Exed her “a few undisclosed supplies to help with her voice.” O’Rilly? M.I.A. is quoted as saying, “I lost my voice in L.A. but I’ll do my best because it’s been a long f***ing wait to get here!” ([More →])

Jamaican Anglican Church Adds Reggae To Repertoire
August 2nd, 2007
I have seen the future, and it is filled with conscious reggae. Not long ago, Island celebrated the 30th anniversary of Bob Marley’s Exodus album by reissuing it on USB and Micro SD digital devices, as well as mp3, CD and vinyl. Yesterday, the Anglican Church in Jamaica announced that the next publication of its church hymnal will include Peter Tosh’s version of “Psalm 27″ and Bob Marley’s “One Love” in the book of hymns! Behold The 9th Wonder Of Hip Hop
August 2nd, 2007
Did a bunch of hip hop producers posse up last year and have a labor meeting? I’m starting to suspect that’s what’s goin on, because this is the year for sought-after producers to drop solo debut albums! Sounds like it must have been quite a meeting too - Havoc brought The Kush, Swizz Beatz set up his One Man Band, and 9th Wonder was the Dream Merchant. The newest Wonder album is set for release October 9th on Six Hole/Hall of Justus Records. And, naturally, being the much-coveted hip hop rhythm section that he is, there will be some sweet collaborations going on with some old friends. 9th Wonder brings to the mic: Mos Def, Jean Grae, Royce the 5′9, Little Brother, Keisha Shontelle, Sean Price and a score of others! Previously 9th Wonder has produced music for a long string of hits you probably know well, with Jay-Z, Destiny’s Child, Mary J. Blige, Lloyd Banks, Mos Def, De La Soul, Memphis Bleek, Jean Grae, Masta Ace, Murs, Buckshot, Masta Ace, Royce 5’9, Ras Kass, and oh so many more. ([More →])
