DJ/ Rupture Plays Bouncement 2 In Boston

July 26th, 2007

Some of the hottest musicians in the US’s electronica/ mash-up/ breakcore/ jungle scenes are being reunited this weekend in Boston. Bouncement 2 brings together DJ/rupture, DJ Flack and Wayne And Wax! It’s quite a homecoming for many of these fellas, and well-deserving of a party - Flack is returning from tour down unda, Wayne and Wax recently returned to Bean town after living in Chicago for a bit, and DJ/ rupture started his musical career as a youth in Mass. Unfortunately, noticeably absent from the lineup is long-time Boston resident and Beat Researcher, DJ C who recently moved to Chicago. Nonetheless, this party is going to blow the roof off of the Great Scott! If you are in the area, you can’t afford to miss this much music history being made for a mere $5.

Read All About It

There is a fantastic article about Rupture and this weekend’s event in The Phoenix, and you can learn more about the various projects that all the Beat Researchers are involved in by visiting their collective blog The Riddim Method. There you will find submissions from DJ C, Flack, Wayne and Wax, as well as Kid Kameleon and DJ Ripley. All of these peeps are amazing inspirations, taking experimental to the next level, while at the same time participating in scholarly research of the community and psychology of music. If ever there were a group of over-achieving-underground-heroes, this is it!

Listen To Free DJ Mixes

These are pretty big mp3 files, just be warned - you are getting a full mixtape here-

Wanna hear what happens when all these peeps get together and play music? Then, download this mix right now:

The Riddim Method - Lemon Red Mix

The description of this mix reads:
HOLY MACARONI! DJ C- Dj Flak - Kid Kameleon - Wayne&wax - Pace & the talented Ms. Ripley the entire Riddim Method crew comes together on this mix with so many exclusive remixes it is pointless to try and trainspot. (though to whet you appetite keep an ear out for “Crazy Train”, “James Brown is Dead” and others!)

But my personal fave, a mix I still listen to regularly, one of the best mixes you can get anywhere is this set by DJ C:

DJ C - Bouncement mix

The description reads:
Dj C returns with the next installment in his “B” mix series. A fine follow-up effort with oodles of grime, hip-hop, dancehall, mash-ups and ragga. Hot-damn DJ C these B mixes get an A!
