Electro empress Ellen Allien will release a new album via her own BPitch Control label on May 27th. She also takes the controls on Vol. 4 of the BoogyBytes series and whips up another fabulous compilation, out now. Plus, Ellen is on tour in Europe right now, with a few stops in North America in May.
Ellen Gets Minimal On SOOL
SOOL is her 4th studio album and the follow-up to 2006′s Orchestra of Bubbles. When asked what “Sool” means, Ellen says, “SOOL is a phantasm, a creation, which reflects the album’s atmosphere, and also my person. I am me but I am also what you make of me, what you do with me and what I do with you. And, SOOL is curiosity, space and architecture. Sketches, drawing, adhering.” FACT Mag described the album:
It’s a more straight-forward, dancefloor-aimed affair than you might have hoped for, favouring supple, subtle minimal techno rhythm over the cascading synths and dreamy vocals that made Bubbles so moving and memorable.
