Help The Dears Find Their Stolen Gears!

April 2nd, 2007

Today in Pitchfork, i read a news post that i think really needs spread as far and wide as possible.

Burglars broke into a rehearsal studio that is shared by Mike Nash and the Dears and cleaned the place out. Not only is the band suffering the loss of so much gear, its guitarist Patrick Krief lost his Fender Strat guitar and says, “I don’t know how I’ll go on with out it. 16 people (friends and family) pitched in to buy me that guitar (of which I had been dreaming about my whole life) on my 18th birthday.”

being separated from this gleaming white classic electric guitar broke the man’s spirit. again, friends and family are chipping in to raise reward money, which is now significantly more than the retail value of the instrument.

please help locate and replace the sentimental sound of the Dears!

read about the ordeal straight from Patrick’s fingertips in his :: myspace post :: with the list of gear stolen and the serial numbers of each.

see pictures of the guitar in the arms of its lover on the Pitchfork article.

it might help to share this info on as many websites, blogs and communities as possible, but especially in the Montreal area.

thanks!
