Kano Goes Gorillaz With “Feel Free” [Video]

January 2nd, 2008

Kano recently released his new single “Feel Free” featuring Damon Albarn. I don’t think the elusive Gorillaz musician appears anywhere in the video, but we get to follow Kano around London in the dark of night. “Feel Free” is the second single off of Kano’s latest album, London Town. Albarn and Kano also performed together for Scratch Africa Express in 2007, which you can watch here as well.

Kano - “Feel Free” featuring Damon Albarn:

Kano Is All Over The Map On London Town

Kano makes music that weaves in and out of grime, sometimes sounding more RnB, sometimes more US hip hop, largely influenced by its guest vocalists. The album’s reviews are equally diverse and influenced by what country the writer hails from. In the UK, the album was seen as a disappointment to those who were familiar with Kano’s previous album, Home Sweet Home. Meanwhile, US album reviews hailed it while comparing Kano to Jay-Z and Nas. I think those comparisons are way off and side with the UK in this instance, but that’s because I like my grime to be really hard hitting. If you are on the other side of the fence and like hip hop that is smoother, laid-back, bordering on RnB and with singers who actually sing instead of just rapping, then you would probably enjoy this album immensely.
