Meanwhile, I have a few more things to pack and then I AM OUTTA HERE!! I’m about to embark on my first vacation in over a year – a full week away from work, internet and the rat race. I’m trading all of it in for a week in the woods surrounded by huge soundsystems that will pump the world’s greatest dance hits, most insane hardcore, most irresponsible breaks and sonic experiments by a an ever-growing group of mad mad mad mad scientists! It’s time for the 12th Annual Mutant Fest and this year we are graced by the awesome super power of Gateway Sound coming with the newly organized Munkey Camp. I can’t wait!

This means that I won’t be posting any news or reviews this week, but I dare not leave without a special gift for you. I’ll be involved in some sonic experiments of my own over the weekend, particularly in the field of bass research in large open spaces. I have a hefty box of dubstep and breakcore artillery that I’m hoping will mash up di place proper. I’m especially excited because this box happens to contain the upcoming new album from The Bug (London Zoo) with fierce chunes by Warrior Queen, Tippa Irie, Flowdan and others; plus a few new tunes from Venetian Snares and a ragga-jungle EP from KODA. The Koda album was a last-minute, surprise entry into the mix and it’s one I can share!

I’ll be thinking of you too, and how cool it would be to have a mobile T-1 connection so we could stream live video of the scene. Of course if we actually did that, the phrase, “I Survived Mutant Fest 2008″ wouldn’t sound so fukkin HARD CORE like it does now. Do you know what happens when America’s ruffest junglists get together in the woods for a daring display of sonic weaponry?
