Lady Sov Needs To Rest After Hitting #1

April 4th, 2007

despite a sudden cancellation of 2 performances in the UK due to recovery from extreme exhaustion that confined her to misery in bed, Lady Sovereign is still adding more shows to her spring 2007 tour.   according to Angry Ape today :

“The rapper was diagnosed with intense exhaustion following her extensive world tour schedule, promoting the release of her debut album Public Warning.
Performances in Glasgow (April 10th) and Birmingham (April 11th) will now not take place…”

meanwhile, her management has added a bumpin party to take place at a go-kart track in Leeds. (”This one’s a banger!”) but get this - you have to be a TMobile customer to attend the exclusive event. more info and a link for TMobile customers to register can be found at Angry Ape over here. you can also find the link on her news page if you want to register before april 5th to win free tickets to experience the bumper to bumper action. the updated tour schedule is at the end of this post. all of the shows with gwen stefani and akon are unchanged at this point.

it’s no surprise that the little lady is exhausted. there’s been a lot of dancing and kicking this week to her club-thumpin “Love Me Or Hate Me”, the first single from her album Public Warning. booting Nelly Furtado off the #1 throne in the Billboard Dance Charts would make anybody tired for a minute. the video for “Love Me Or Hate Me” had already hit #1 on MTV, which is a first for any British artist! i think some Sovereign time for rest is well deserved. i’d be much more offended if she got up on stage with less than her usual spitfire energy.

here is the video for her recently released second single, “Those Were The Days”. the album, Public Warning is available everywhere for purchase, but the singles are still trickling out.
