Linkin Park, heroes of the environment? Well, not too surprising I guess. A few years ago, the band started their own non-profit called Music for Relief in order to channel some funds from the music community into environmental relief campaigns. They just played Live Earth of course, and now are about to head off on the Projekt Revolution tour. Linkin Park vocalist, Bennington, answered questions at a press conference last week, telling reporters that environmental education would be a focus of this tour.
“We’re going to try to plant over a million trees during this touring cycle,” Bennington said. “By raising awareness as much as possible, encouraging people to make simple changes in their life and showing them how by offering information at the tour, we can make a difference. If at the end of the day all we did was plant a bunch of trees, that’s cool with me.”

One dollar from every ticket sold for the Projekt Revolution tour will be donated by Linkin Park and Music for Relief to the American Forests’ Global ReLeaf program. In addition to this, Linkin Park will also be auctioning off premium packages on ebay and donating the entire proceeds to Music for Relief. From the band’s website:
