New Boondocks Episode With 9th Wonder Music

November 17th, 2007

The new episode of Boondocks is up now. It’s a good one too – Attack of the Killer Kung Fu Wolf Bitch! This one shows a bit of crossover with Afro-Samurai and references to Bruce Lee’s Enter the Dragon movie. Plus it features music by 9th Wonder and a song on the Applause riddim that I haven’t heard yet. If you know who/what it is, holla in the comments.

KRS-One Switches Hip Hop Labels, More 9th Wonder News

August 23rd, 2007

Some artists survive on air and art alone. They do not require food or sleep, and if they do partake in such things it’s just for show. That’s the only explanation I can come up with for how they continue to produce quantities of high-calibre artwork. These are the people you wonder about every time they release something new, like “When did they have the time to do X, Y and Z while releasing A, B and C?!!” This is how I feel about 9th Wonder. The hip hop beat-meister is in the midst of releasing his first solo album because he’s usually too busy making the music tracks for the likes of Nas, Jean Grae, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, and Little Brother to name just a few. But just the other day I stumbled across another album that he is simultaneously producing beats for – an album with Buckshot of Duck Down Records, who also just signed KRS-One. ([More →])

Trunk-Bumpin New Tunes On HearingTest

August 21st, 2007

We’ve added a bunch of new hip hop music to the boombox this week! Normally the new tracks would get a full write up posted, but all of these tracks are new releases from albums that have already been reported. Also, I added links to every track in the player so you can jump to which articles they match up to. If a track doesn’t have a link, then the tune doesn’t have an article about it yet. So here’s what’s new, click on the album names to jump to previous reports about them: ([More →])

Behold The 9th Wonder Of Hip Hop

August 2nd, 2007

Did a bunch of hip hop producers posse up last year and have a labor meeting? I’m starting to suspect that’s what’s goin on, because this is the year for sought-after producers to drop solo debut albums! Sounds like it must have been quite a meeting too – Havoc brought The Kush, Swizz Beatz set up his One Man Band, and 9th Wonder was the Dream Merchant. The newest Wonder album is set for release October 9th on Six Hole/Hall of Justus Records. And, naturally, being the much-coveted hip hop rhythm section that he is, there will be some sweet collaborations going on with some old friends. 9th Wonder brings to the mic: Mos Def, Jean Grae, Royce the 5’9, Little Brother, Keisha Shontelle, Sean Price and a score of others! Previously 9th Wonder has produced music for a long string of hits you probably know well, with Jay-Z, Destiny’s Child, Mary J. Blige, Lloyd Banks, Mos Def, De La Soul, Memphis Bleek, Jean Grae, Masta Ace, Murs, Buckshot, Masta Ace, Royce 5’9, Ras Kass, and oh so many more. ([More →])
