Everything Fit To Print About ([Ali G])

Shaggy & Ali G & Me Julie

November 26th, 2007

A love song to Julie’s babylons by fave youth correspondent (Ali G) and Mr. Lover Man (Shaggy)…

Ali G & Shaggy - “Julie”

Ali G is insanely clever. (Don’t be fooled by the low-brow character he portrays in this video). He possesses the ideal combination of charisma, satire, intelligence, wit, insight and pure niceness that’s necessary to get away with the ridiculous situations he sets up. I can never get enuff, so I’m dropping this video into the archive for endless enjoyment.

BOOYAKASHA! Respek!

HearingTest Is A Bit Deaf Right Now

October 31st, 2007

Iz been a minnit since I was able to publish anything on HearingTest. It’s been a crAzy week and all - my book just been published, the Vex’d show on Friday night was insane, over the weekend we had non-stop back2back performances from Aaron Spectre (aka Drumcorps) and Duran Duran Duran, not to mention just visiting with them and sittin round the fire… From Friday until Monday morning I was dancing in front of a different stack of speakers every night, so I might be half deaf now (but I DO wear earplugs and so should you!) It’s been a full week of the kind of moments I live for, totally blissful, I wish it never had to end. But here it is Wednesday and I’m just starting to wake up and get back to work. Sorry about the interruption, I’ll try to make it up with a flurry of new stuff and hopefully some pix from the parties. If all goes well, here’s wot’s comin up soon -

  • Reviews of The Pack and Kafani’s new albums
  • Pix and video from the Aaron Spectre/Drumcorps, Duran Duran Duran, R.A.W., Meat Beat Manifesto, Rtype, Naked Slice and more Halloween party last weekend
  • A bunch of new videos out this week
  • Maybe pix of my new book - Reggae Scrapbook by Roger Steffens and Peter Simon with 2 chapters by me!
  • And who knows what else, we’ll see.

If all dun go right, I’ll be curled up in front of the tellie watching Dubplate Drama marathons. I’m positively addicted to that show!
Anyway, anyway, anyway, be back inna minnit with some fresh content. If nothing else, I’ll embed the DD episodes here so you can watch along with me…

Meanwhile, what were you for Halloween? Got any pix? I went as Ali G, but I forgot to snap a pic. Me being a gal and all, I totally fooled all my friends. It was hilarious and so much fun not being recognized!

    Ali G - Respect!

MTV Movie Awards- Borat/Cohen To Benefit, J. Alba To Host

    May 8th, 2007

Speaking of award ceremonies, more names are being released for the roster of stars that will be hosting the MTv Movie Awards on June 3rd. Hosts with most so far include - Shia LaBeouf, John Travolta, Josh Duhamel, Amanda Bynes, Jessica Alba, Samuel L. Jackson, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Amy Winehouse, and Chris Tucker.

    From VH1.com:

But while the Sunday event — to be broadcast live for the first time ever, at 8 p.m. ET — might appear to be mad about movies, it wouldn’t be an MTV show without a few musical moments to steal the spotlight. Hoping to follow in the footsteps of instantly classic performances like the one Gnarls Barkley gave last year and Eminem and D12 did in 2004, chart-toppers Rihanna and Jay-Z will take the stage together to perform the single “Umbrella” from her upcoming album Good Girl Gone Bad.

Also competing for the most water-cooler-worthy performance will be soulful British singer/songwriter Winehouse, set to play her international hit “Rehab.” Winehouse isn’t only a record-maker but a record-setter, recently becoming the highest-debuting British female artist in the history of the Billboard albums chart.
Fans can vote by visiting MovieAwards.mtv.com before May 29, or from their mobile phones by texting “MOVIES” to 22422. Voting is also available by dialing toll free to 1-877-MTV-VOTE, through which fans can support their favorite nominees in each category.
