So Long Sidebar, And Thanks For All The Ish

September 22nd, 2007

Notice anything different? If you’ve been reading HearingTest for a while, you might think that something is broken on the individual article pages. If you usually read the articles from a feed reader, you probably wouldn’t notice, but it appears that a sidebar is missing on the right side of those pages. It’s true! The right sidebar is gone! And I don’t intend to replace it. Not on individual article pages. I’ve mentioned before that HearingTest aspires to online magazinery, well we finally lost the extra weight and can now fit into a 2-column! That means lots more room for photos and videos and other loot. Meanwhile, it may take some sprucing up of older posts before they look comfortable in the new space plus some experiments on my part to properly utilize all that extra space in the future. But, I’m sure we’ll adjust splendidly. (If you don’t know what I’m referring to, click on the headline of any article. It takes you to a page with only one sidebar, and the content box expands to fill the extra space. Whereas the other pages, like the News page and music pages, have 2 sidebars. For now…)

Oh, and speaking of awkward new phases, there’s also a new flyer-carousel on the front page. It rotates flyers for upcoming events that are near and dear to us. There’s only a few flyers in there to start with, but I’m sure that won’t last long! The same neato script is powering the carousel of concert reviews in the left sidebar too! (The sidebar that remains)

Concert reviews for Underworld/Paul Oakenfold, SFEMF and Biosphere are still coming. Soon, I hope! I’ve vowed not to attend any more shows until I finish what’s on my plate, but I don’t know how much longer I can hold out… There was a dance party in my room last night! And Surya Dub is tonight!

Please let me know if you encounter any problems with the new features. It looks fine on my computer, but of course, that’s just one possible outcome…
Thanks for reading HearingTest!
