Ever wonder what everyone else is listening to? Today’s list of Top Rankin Tunes is compiled from what was most popular among ([HearingTest]) readers in 2007. This is definitely the most pop-oriented of all the lists; starting with the the most-played tune: Alicia Keys and Jr. Reid’s reggae soul remix of “No One” followed by the tune that Jah Cure released at the same time he himself was released from Tower Prison. These two tunes were receiving thousands of plays per day for weeks! Recently, the audio CD that comes with Ghostface Killah’s new book “The World According To Pretty Toney” has been streaming pretty much round the clock on computers around the globe and linked to on numerous hip hop BBs. Other big contenders include Foxy Brown’s don diva anthem with Mavado – “We’re On Fire” – released during her incarceration in Rykers Island and the club anthem of the year in UK – T2 and Jodie Aysha’s incredible infectious “Heartbroken” which puts the bounce in Bassline music! All right Cure fans! It’s been a minute since Curefest took place and now the videos and reviews are flowing like rain! I’ve run round cyberspace, gathering links and videos of the three day festival at Trelawny Stadium (Big Ups To Don and Kizzy for the help!). What we have here is only the beginning, there will be more videos uploaded and more reviews published in the next few weeks. I will continue seeking them out and linking to them here. As I publish more roundups like this one, I will link to them at the bottom of this page. They will also show up as fresh posts in the reggae and news sections. So, you might want to bookmark this page or subscribe to the reggae RSS feed to get the updates. Now on with the show! ([More →])

Rumours circulated the internet that Jah Cure was banned from the UK while attempting to secure a visa. With shows coming up this weekend, lots of people are getting nervous, both ticket holders and promoters. So wha gwaan? Is the Cure coming to Great Britain or no? According to New Name Music – the company who organized the tour – Cure was indeed denied entry to the UK but not banned. They are hoping to get a waiver for the singer, but it’s not looking hopeful this late in the game. Then again, the Cure may have a miracle or two up his sleeve yet. ([More →])

We’re looking for video and concert reviews of Curefest in Jamaica, so if you have any to share, link up in the comments! In the meantime, we have Jah Cure himself launching the Curefest. This was recorded two weeks ago, but many of you may not have seen it yet and I have not posted it here before. ([More →])

A few days ago I reported here that Jah Cure had been banned from the UK by its Home Office just weeks before he is scheduled to appear at a string of performances in the UK. Today there are reports from the singer’s publicist and record label that deny these allegations, but it is unclear which story is true. A few different UK newspapers had reported that the decision to ban Cure had come from high up in the Home Office, citing that his presence would not be “conducive to public good.” His publicist, Alison Young, claims that they are in the middle of the visa process to gain entry to the country and that he has not yet been turned down. HearingTest has been following the story of Jah Cure’s new found freedom, from his first concert in Holland, the many updates about Curefest, and recently the announcement of a handful of shows in the UK. Well, I’m sorry to report that tour has been canceled, but not by Jah Cure or his management. It has been shut down and Jah Cure has been “banned from Britain” because of his background. ([More →])

The Jamaica Observer reported today that Jah Cure will be performing in the UK after Curefest in October. Jah Cure fans are going crazy for any news about the singer since his release from the Tower Correctional Facility in July. He made his first public appearance at the Sundance Reggae Music Fest in Holland and the crowd response was unprecedented. So much love and joy and appreciation came from the audience during the concert and in the weeks following. Cure’s second concert is the 3-day festival that was organized in his honor – Curefest in Jamaica October 12-14th. This will be a huge weekend for Jah Cure, not only because it is his big show on home soil, but also he will be celebrating his 30th birthday on October 11th. As he gears up for this big event, his promoters are setting the stage over in the UK. Taurrus Riley is already scheduled for numerous UK concerts opening for Buju Banton and will also open the shows for Jah Cure in UK. Taurrus Riley, son of the legendary Jimmy Riley has been blazing his own path up the music charts this year. ([More →])

Here its is – the daily roundup of all things Cured! I imagine that Jah Cure is probably spending quality time with family and friends, rather than making public appearances. But that won’t stop people from talking about him, or stopping him in the street to video tape him singing an accapella of his newest song. We only have a few links today, and probably won’t have many more to round up until he starts doing some publicity. But for today, you can feast your eyes on this pic and feast your ears on this accapella! ([More →])

Lots of people have been chatting about watchmi.com and I hadn’t gotten around to checking it out. Today, at last, I stumbled on the site when I was looking for Jah Cure updates, and boy am I glad I did! The site is a lot like youTube but geared more specifically to the Jamaican community at home and afar. And, they did in fact have video from the press conference that Jah Cure did pon release from Tower. And we have it here! We also have his newest song, “My Life”! ([More →])

This week is a very special and important week for Jah Cure and his fans. Since many of you are wondering what he is up to and how his experiences of renewed freedom are coming along, I will be on the lookout for news to share with you. Rather than write up a whole post everytime, I’ve decided to make a list of any new articles that I find. I will post that list each day along with any new photos or videos. I’ve noticed that many reports from the same press conference include different stories with different quotes. So if you just can’t get enough of the Cure, you might want to read them all! ([More →])
