The #1 Tune In America - “Lollipop”

Lil Wayne helps us remember Static/Major with this “new” song. Hip hop lost a talented son when Static Major died too young in February. Luckily, his memory will remain strong with songs like “I Got My” featuring his good bud Weezy…
“I Got My” is the first single off Static/Major’s debut album Suppertime, which was due to drop in ‘08. I’m not sure what the status of the album is now.
Lil Wayne serenades hip hop model Lisa Marie in his latest tune, “Lisa Marie.” How do we know it’s about her? Well, amongst other things, both the lady in the tune and the lady in this photo have a butterfly on their upper thigh, so it’s a pretty solid guess:
No word yet on whether this song is intended for Carter III or just to get Weezy laid…
BBC’s DJ Semtex got Lil Wayne to open up about Carter III during an interview over the weekend. Weezy told Semtex that Kanye is on 3 tracks and that Swizz Beatz, Jim Johnson and Deezle also appear. Wayne also stopped by Tim Westwood’s studio and let the rhymes flow. ([More →])
Lots of Lil Wayne tunes in the player this week - check it out: We’ve been bumpin “Lollipop” for awhile now, and Flo-Rida’s “American Gangsta” featuring Lil Wayne. Now we have a tune called “Millie” though I’m not sure that’s the right title (I’ll look into it today). It’s supposed to be off the upcoming Carter III. I love it, especially because it doesn’t sound like a song. It sounds like Lil Wayne just having a conversation over music. Listen here:

“Millie” and “Lollipop” are reported to be on Lil Wayne’s Carter III. Lil Wayne also collaborated on a track for Static/Major’s debut, Suppertime which you can listen to here:
Lolli-LOLolli-lollipop… Lil Wayne drops his new video for “Lollipop” featuring Static Major and a catchy chorus:
From the long-awaited Carter III. Is this really Weezy in the video? Or his android double?

Wyclef Jean dropped his new album Wyclef Jean’s Carnival II: Memoirs Of An Immigrant last month and it sounds pretty good, what I’ve heard so far. A wide range of artists guest on Carnival II, from Lil Wayne and Sizzla to Paul Simon and Shakira. Watch the videos and listen to a few tunes right here. ([More →])
Ghislain Poirier - Montreal’s instigator of electronic mayhem - has a new album called No Ground Under. Ninja Tune released the LP in Canada, but it won’t be released in the US until early 2008. The first single off No Ground Under is the ragga/dancehall tune “Blazin” featuring Face-T. The EP single includes the original album edit and remixes by The Bug and DJ C. In the meantime, here are 2 different remixes of the same song that are not part of either release: a Modeselektor remix and a second remix from DJ C that’s more of a mashup. ([More →])
There’s a lot of anticipation in the air surrounding the new album from the notorious Wu-Tang Clan. To help ease some of the tensions that have been building, Semtex dropped FOUR tunes off 8 Diagrams during his BBC 1Xtra Radio show last Sunday! Semtex brings a hot mix of hip hop tunes to the UK airwaves and the globe’s internet streams on a weekly basis via BBC Radio 1Xtra. Lucky for us, the show is available until Saturday night/Sunday morning when the new show airs and gets archived. The show also features the brand new Snoop Dog tune (with D-oh-dubble-G singing!) “Sensual Seduction,” plus tracks from Chris Brown featuring Lil Wayne, new Jay-Z, Kid Sister ft. Kanye West, Chingy, Skepta, Asher D, Ghetto, Trigger and Kano! ([More →])
Khaled’s “I’m So Hood” Remix features Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, T-Pain, Young Jeezy, Big Boi, Fat Joe, Birdman and Rick Ross! But it’s Ludacris that’s killin it like a mouth full of guns in the new video! Plus, Lil Wayne is so ill it can’t be captured on film - they had to slow it down like a Bruce Lee movie! Busta Rhymes is boxing ears with his badman tongue twisters while Birdman plays it smooth like N’arlins jazz, riding slow and low. Roll these rudeboys over 808 drum loops and the backdrop of Grand Theft Auto: Atlanta and you’ve got it made! ([More →])
Chris Brown’s “Kiss Kiss” bumped Soulja Boy’s “Crank Dat” from the throne and conquered the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart last week. “Kiss Kiss” is Brown’s second song to hit #1, his hit “Run It” was #1 in November 2005. The new song is off Chris Brown’s forthcoming new album, Exclusive and features T-Pain on the mic. Listen to the entire album today and check out the video for “Kiss Kiss”: ([More →])
