The lovely Miss Erykah Badu is celebrating her 10th year in the music biz with the recent release of “Honey.” The song was released on November 20th and it is the first single from her new album. The album is set for release on Erykah’s birthday, February 26th and is titled New Amerykah. ([More →])
Madlib has a younger brother? Apparently so, and the mad talent runs in the family (the boys’ father is none other that Otis Jackson). He goes by the name Oh No and his latest album, Dr. No’s Oxperiment will be released on Stones Throw August 14th. Stones Throw describes the album as “an audio tour of Turkish, Lebanese, Greek & Italian psyche funk: chopped, flipped & ripped.” It’s an album of instrumentals all produced by Oh No. ([More →])
California’s best kept hip hop secret is about to be let out of the bag! Strong Arm Steady have worked the mixtape circuit to the bone and are ready to step up their game. Their debut album, Deep Hearted, is expected to cause major traffic jams outside stores lucky enough to carry it on its release date - August 28th. The album is being dropped by Nature Sounds Music and features collaborations with Chamillionaire, Juvenile, Black Thought of The Roots, Xzibit, Talib Kweli, Dilated Peoples, Ras Kass and more! Madlib must be a very busy man. Recently he dropped a full bonus disc of remixes into the already brimming release of CHAMPION SOUND, the magical double album by the dynamic duo Jaylib that is due on Stones Throw June 19th. Meanwhile he has been working on Volume 3 of the Beat Konducta series which will be released only on vinyl sometime in early July.

Madlib also produced the upcoming compilation, Yesterdays Universe featuring the Yesterdays New Quintet plus 10 new groups. That album drops on July 17th. AND as if that wasn’t achieving enough, he is produced an instrumental to be combined with the sultry jazz-influenced vocals of Norah Jones that will appear on Talib Kweli’s upcoming album, Ear Drum. The song is called “Soon The New Day” and the album will be available in July.
In the meantime, you can listen to quite a few Madlib projects on any of these pages:

You can also download a whole free mp3 bootleg on the Madlib/Stones Throw page. I guess they got hold of a bootleg of one of his concerts, and since it is unofficial, they are providing it for free! It’s the Live At Chocolate City CD….
