Residents and visitors of the Haight/Golden Gate Park area of SF should make some effort to secure fragile objects and batten down what needs secured this Sunday, October 14th. I don’t anticipate an earthquake, although that is always a possibility, but I do anticipate some serious seismic activity in that neighborhood on that day. See, I just got word that OM and Boris will both be performing live, for FREE, at the Amoeba Records at the tip of upper Haight Street. This is a monumental event, even by Amoeba’s free shows standards. Never before have 2 bands of such heavy sonic history played in-store on the very same day. I can’t wait! OM will be releasing their third album, Pilgrimage, on Southern Lord Records. I already reported about the album, which will be released on October 2nd, but now we have audio to share! Finnish Krautrockers, Circle, began their US tour with a FREE performance at Other Music in NYC on Tuesday night and will soon be heading west. Circle will play with a few different bands along the way, including Endless Boogie, Grails, Assemblehead in Sunburst Sound, OM and Oneida. Should be a fantastic tour. I saw them at the Great American Music Hall about 3 years ago and it was such an experience… Growing and Earth opened the show with incredible sets of experimental metal and then Circle took the audience to another dimension! The music was psychedelic and totally trance-inducing. For some reason they remind of Les Savy Fav, but with really long, drawn out jams that take you deeper and deeper into the music. They also put so much energy into the performance, much like LSF do. If you are near one of their shows, I highly recommend checking them out. Steve Albini strikes again! As a recording engineer, he is one of the few who can be trusted with the task of recording extreme music that has a long history of being improperly mastered and mixed-down. He has made all the difference in the world on recordings with Neurosis, Fugazi, Gogol Bordello, The Stooges, Mono, Godspeed You! Black Emperor and many more. Well, it’s no wonder then, that OM trusted him to record their third full-length album at Electrical Audio studio in Chicago. The album will be titled Pilgrimage and it is due to be released on Southern Lord (OM’s first album on this label) on October 2nd. ([More →])

Roadburn Festival in Tilburg Holland has added yet another night of music to their already storming lineup! The weekend long festival, previously scheduled for April 20-21, is sold out. This third night, however, will be sold separately!

As if the forthcoming Roadburn Festival isn’t enough sonic overload, Sunn 0))), Bohren und der Club of Gore & Fear Falls Burning will play the Roadburn Festival Afterburner, scheduled for Sunday, April 22nd. Tickets will be sold seperately. Weekend tickets for the sold-out Roadburn Festival do not include entrance for this show.

Pre-sale tickets go on sale starting March 24th and there are only 325 total, so this will definitely sell out. don’t sleep!

I can’t believe the lineup for the other 2 days, it’s like sxsw for dark avant garde metal! Neurosis, OM, Red Sparrowes, Clutch, Growing, Circle, Thrones, Melvins, Amenra, and so many more!!
That’s just one more reason i should be living in Holland.
