Mavado was pure fire last year and he’s set to keep blazing up the reggae and hip hop scenes in 2008! His highly-acclaimed debut release Gangster For Life was just the beginning, the Jamaican deejay has since recorded with Foxy Brown, Wyclef Jean and Uncle Murda. Near the end of 2007, he attended DJ Khaled’s b-day bash in Miami and the two must have really hit it off because they spent the next day in the studio, laying down a track for Khaled’s album.
According to Oonu Culture:
At DJ Khaled’s Birthday Bash in Miami’s South Beach, Mavado appeared alongside Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Fat Joe, Young Jeezy, Birdman, Rick Ross, Trick Daddy and Plies. He has also been in the studio recording for the renowned hip hop Producer/DJ Khaled’s upcoming album. Mavado has also collaborated with rap artist Uncle Murda on “Informer,” Wyclef Jean on “Welcome To The East,” and Foxy Brown on her brand new single “We Are On Fire,” which is currently Ms. Jones Morning Show’s “Pick Of The Week” on New York’s #1 Radio Station Hot 97.
Too bad Mavado wasn’t part of the “I’m So Hood” remix! I have most of those tunes mentioned, I will dig them up and add the audio to this post by the end of the day. (So check back)
“Last Night” With Mavado
Meanwhile, “Last Night” is the next single on Gangster For Life that will be put into action - the video was filmed in Jamaica and we have seen the teaser for it. He’s also been in the studio with Bounty Killer’s Alliance (of which he is a member), recording tracks for their new album, due out on VP this year.
