Sounding a bit like Afterparty Babies, the new LP from East Bay producer/rapper Lyrics Born, Microphonepet comes out of South Bay with tunes previously released on Mochipet’s own label: Daly City Records. The music reflects the diversity of San Francisco’s party scenes all mashed together and remixed. From its house parties to hyphy parties, its banging electro clubs and renegade techno gatherings, SF loves booty-shakin beats. But it’s the fabulous MCs that collaborated with Mochi that make this album blaze. Casual & Opio (Hieroglyphics), Dopestyle (Kutmaster Kurt), Raashan (Crown City Rockers) and Mykah9 (Freestyle Fellowship) all pick up the mic and drop bombs on Microphonepet.
