A few days ago I reported here that Jah Cure had been banned from the UK by its Home Office just weeks before he is scheduled to appear at a string of performances in the UK. Today there are reports from the singer’s publicist and record label that deny these allegations, but it is unclear which story is true. A few different UK newspapers had reported that the decision to ban Cure had come from high up in the Home Office, citing that his presence would not be “conducive to public good.” His publicist, Alison Young, claims that they are in the middle of the visa process to gain entry to the country and that he has not yet been turned down.
Numerous sources are citing a statement from Danger Zone Records and his publicist Alison Young which reads:
“We are aware that there have been circulations on the Internet and other media that Jah Cure has been banned from Britain. We would like to advise that the British authorities have communicated no such ban. It is a fact however, that Jah Cure has procured a work permit for the UK and is now in the process of securing a UK visa, which is a separate application process, but no determination has yet been made on the issue. Until such a determination is made, we find it irresponsible that anyone would wish to purvey such erroneous statements.”
I don’t have any direct contact with either Alison Young or the Home Office, so I guess we’re just going to have to wait and see what develops. Interesting controversy though. I will post any updates I can find concerning this matter, so stay tuned!
