Ever wonder what everyone else is listening to? Today’s list of Top Rankin Tunes is compiled from what was most popular among ([HearingTest]) readers in 2007. This is definitely the most pop-oriented of all the lists; starting with the the most-played tune: Alicia Keys and Jr. Reid’s reggae soul remix of “No One” followed by the tune that Jah Cure released at the same time he himself was released from Tower Prison. These two tunes were receiving thousands of plays per day for weeks! Recently, the audio CD that comes with Ghostface Killah’s new book “The World According To Pretty Toney” has been streaming pretty much round the clock on computers around the globe and linked to on numerous hip hop BBs. Other big contenders include Foxy Brown’s don diva anthem with Mavado - “We’re On Fire” - released during her incarceration in Rykers Island and the club anthem of the year in UK - T2 and Jodie Aysha’s incredible infectious “Heartbroken” which puts the bounce in Bassline music!
- Alicia Keys & Junior Reid - “No One Remix” on Stalag riddim
- Jah Cure - “My Life”

That’s because this list only includes music that was streaming on this site in the past year. It’s not the countdown of most popular music everywhere. Mavado was one of the hottest artists of the year on HearingTest, but I only posted videos, I never had any audio of his music. Therefore he’s not on the list either. 2007 was my first year reporting music news, so I’m just now getting the hang of it and making the right connections to get hold of more audio for 2008. Hopefully this site will have more audio by Beenie Man and others soon enuff.
chad - you’re right, Beenie was one of the most popular artists this year. i’m a big fan of idonia’s tune on the swarm riddim too, “Ah You” but since I only had video of it, not audio, it didn’t make the list.
Trust me, next year’s list (if I even do one) will be much better….
