Venetian Snares Is A “Detrimentalist” Gentleman On New Breakcore Album [Listen]

June 18th, 2008

Venetian Snares, recently emerged from his studio with a fresh barrage of breakcore madness, eager to bully our eardrums (again). Dentrimentalist will be unleashed via Planet Mu on July 15th only to spread like a morbidly-popular plague of zombie strippers. If nasty breakcore is what you seek, look no further and listen to 2 MENTAL selections right now! Here’s the audio for “Gentleman” and “Poo Yourself Jason” off Detrimentalist:

“Poo Yourself Jason” from Detrimentalist:

Venetian Snares Attacks Anemic Jungle Music With Stabbing Snares And Gut-Wrenching Bass

Aaron “Funk” Von Snares describes the forthcoming mayhem as his “332nd official studio album of disgusting ejacutronic rave horn … fresh off the bakery truck to pluck out your brain cells and replace them with inescapable k-hole oblivion!” (I thought that already happened to my junglist friends of yesteryear - the inescapable k-hole! You mean they were just a head of their time? Wait, what?)
On his myspace blog, Aaron emphasizes that Dentrimentalist is a “roots record” to him - the Canadian producer returns to the sweet, tender days of jungle’s youth, “before they took out all the good bits between the kicks and the snares”. Living up to his name, the new LP features, “more and more snares between the snares from Snares,” and, “bass that makes your colon drop like you grew a new nut out your ass!

What a charmer, eh ladies? (In truth, the ladies here are mad for breakcore, so I guess personality got nuthin ta do wid it.) Arnold Steiner aka AS1 Projects contributed the nuke-green digi-collage that covers the album:

I Like Old Snares, I Like New Snares, I Like All Kinds Of Snares

I’m excited about a new album from the man who practically pioneered breakcore in the mainstream. But - nothing enchants me to my musical core like a richly dubbed-out Black Sabbath remix! With bass so HEAVY it pulls me straight down to the netherworld and Sabbath riffs so powerful I feel like the sacrificial guest at Black Mass, Snares’ single, “Black Sabbath,” is absolutely wi-i-i-i-i-i-iiiiiiicked! I believe it’s on marble green vinyl with a black label that says little more than the words SNARES and SABBATH…

My fave Snares tune of ALL time - “Black Sabbath”:

The b-side, “Electric Funeral,” is also pretty heavy; with clips of Ozzy interviews and a bassline guaranteed to rattle the walls…
