Zebbler – Get To The Truth About Mooninite Bomber

February 13th, 2009

Truth is, this video is way to hippie-trippy for me. The tune is wicked and I cranked that ish as soon as i heard the bubbling synths and fidgety breaks come bouncing out of the speakers! But, I just can’t watch more than a minute of the groping hippie hands + nekkid ass hairs blowing in the wind (yeah, totally not “safe” for work among other places)… Bostonian audio/video team Zebbler “Get To The Truth” – the whole truth and nothing but the bare, naked truth:

“Get To The Truth” from Zebbler

Press play because the tune is wicked. But don’t be afraid to turn off yr monitor, close yr laptop, close yr eyes and just enjoy the audio onslaught…

Does this video remind anyone else of the all-natural “Christian” lifestyle the Manson family embraced right before going Helter Skelter on the world?

Mashit astutely points out Zebbler’s most interesting factoid to date: that he’s THE dude (nee Peter Berdovsky) who was arrested in connection with the “Boston Mooninite ‘Bomb’ scare” aka – the Adult Swim cartoon displays that appeared mysteriously one day and were immediately mistaken for terrorist-planted bombs. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You say “terrorism,” they say “performance art”:

The video Get To The Truth was created by Zebbler Encanti Experience, a Boston-based audio-visual immersive performance duo. We are generally known to use heavy a/v effects in our performances, which makes this piece remarkably restrained. Get To The Truth instead uses human body and nature as its central focus. The video itself reflects on the magnetic effects of human culture/flesh to our individual psyche and the perennial attempt to reach beyond the box we are confined to.

It was shot in various spots in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, with the final mountain shot taking place on the morning of the US presidential election (Nov 4th, 2008).

I am glad my hairy ass scares you :)

  • 2 Scott Robinson // Feb 17, 2009 at 10:46

    nice puritanical perspective on art
who cares whose naked ass it is
its like you forget youre human

  • 3 John Dill // Feb 17, 2009 at 12:05

oh ya…. that’s what humans look like. i’d about forgotten. those hippies have balls standing in that cold water for several shots.

  • 4 norajean // Feb 17, 2009 at 14:00

hey I got dreads and a naked body – does that make me a hippie too?
or is that only applicable when I am in nature as well?
perhaps you are educated in vocabulary and already understand the
definition of the word hippie.. of course then, you would know how to spell it?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippie

  • 5 norajean // Feb 17, 2009 at 14:22

my bad. you did spell it correctly…
the people quoting you are not :
“I don’t think they are too straight laced, it just that your video was to hippy-trippy. ”

Anyways, the point of linking the wiki page is to bring to light information as to what the hippie movement actually was… now, it is history. Counter culture has since evolved and through out the history of art, nudity has been commonplace.

Of course, everyone has a right to have an opinion. However, well informed opinions tend to have more weight.

Man, I bet it stank in that room, wicked bad!!

  • 7 Dorothy // Feb 17, 2009 at 19:13

I consider this video to be very original and flawlessly edited. The music is undeniably amazing. If you’re quibbling over nudity, you’ve clearly missed the point.

  • 8 mission // Feb 17, 2009 at 19:39

it’s creative, it’s fearless, it’s got balls (literally) – what it ISN’T is yet another cheap exploitation of nudity in our oversexed yet strangely puritan culture. i’m glad that there are still people out there willing to take risks in the pursuit of art.

  • 9 massta // Feb 18, 2009 at 0:38

It’s ballzy for sure. I would expect this critique from a half-wit, but not so harsh from an online music source. What’s the name of this site?

I did tell Zebbler to make another version with blurred genitals so it would be more widely accepted, but being this open does make a stronger statement.

Ask him and he may forgive your ignorance and enlighten you.

I guess my video it an opposite of zebblers, since I tried my best to cover up: http://www.vimeo.com/2405348

Loved the video, love the tune even more!

I appreciate the minimal amount of editing and the raw action of the piece.

  • 11 Scott Robinson // Feb 18, 2009 at 22:03

oh not to be confrontational… just stoned… its a good video if nudity doesn’t bother you

  • 12 Cawd // Feb 21, 2009 at 9:28

As a close friend to Encanti, alls I can say to him having balls for standing in the cold water is this… We are from Alaska, Massachusetts water hasn’t got shit on our water. We o swimming in the ocean in august here, and sometimes we jump in the ocean in january for charity.
I got to see the video while sitting and chilling with Encanti at his moms house. I loved it. I don’t much care for the “techno” genre, but the audio/visual mix was thought provoking and very beautiful. The girls were hot, the guys were hot and it wasn’t the least bit disturbing. I half expected to have nightmares when I was given the “I’m naked in this” disclaimer, but seeing Encanti running through the woods naked was nothing new to me. It’s something we do for fun up here in Alaska… At least, I do. Would have loved to have been in on that press of bodies though… Mmmhmm.

  • 13 vermin street // Feb 23, 2009 at 18:43

i kind of like the fact that there’s dick in the video.
me, heterosexual male, thinks he likes the fact that it challenges people and some of them think “ugh, get this shit away!” and others think “this is so raw and ballsy.”

yes! confront me with more things i’m not sure i’m comfortable with!

  • 14 Yoni.V // Feb 25, 2009 at 8:42

This is the coolest video I’ve seen in ages, with or without the nakedness!!

But there are always haters out there…

  • 15 Molli Fire // Mar 20, 2009 at 4:30

wow, i can’t believe some peeps here think i was being harsh. (hello – i wrote this post and the site is called HearingTest) well, for the record – i have no problem with nudity at all and i love this tune. no h8n here!
It’s great to see so many other people diggin it too, thanks all for commenting.

Zebbler – thx for stopping by and dropping a comment! (#1!) it’s an honor to have The MAN himself here.

As for everyone trippin on my use of the word hippie – lighten up! or light up, or sumtin. if you knew me in person, you would know i wasn’t being critical. i’m just being honest, this video is a little bit too whatever-you-want-to-call it for me. it’s not EVIL enuff for my tastes. no big deal, to each their own.

KEEP UP THE FABULOUS WORK ZEBBLER!!
